“We’re all jazz musicians together and at the same time we all embody all of black music. We embody R&B, hip-hop, jazz, rock, funk, gospel music and we all come up in that. We have no problem infusing all of those things because we are comfortable with all of them. That’s the difference.”   With this statement, it’s no big surprise that NY-based pianist Robert Glasper together with his band - the Experiment - won the 55th Grammy Award early this year, for one of the most acclaimed albums of 2012 (& most probably beyond) “Black Radio” in the R&B category…not jazz.    Glasper’s genre-blending album tapped into his R&B, soul, rock and hip-hop serious influences from Sade, J Dilla, Nirvana to David Bowie & featured an impressive dream team of guests & friends like Erykah Badu, Musiq Soulchild, Meshell Ndegeocello, Shafiq Husayn, Bilal, Lalah Hathaway, Ledisi, Yasiin Bey (a.k.a. Mos Def) or Lupe Fiasco. It has now been followed by a remix ep “Black Radio recovered” with renown beatmakers such as 9th Wonder, ?uestlove, Georgia Anne Muldrow or Pete Rock & the Pt.2 is already in progress with guest appearances from Common, Norah Jones, Jill Scott or Anthony Hamilton.    For their third appearance at J.A.W we think twice with an exclusive & intimate show in the Trio mode on July 2nd at the Kreuzberger venue Chalet with its lovely garden, BBQ & chill out flair.    Yes, let’s meet again.    /////////////////////   TICKETS  July 1st/ Experiment : pre-sale at www.festsaal-tickets.de July 2nd/ Trio: priority is given to the people coming at the Experiment show. Limited capacity. Tickets first available at Festsaal/ Door on July 1st.
